Tony Navarro is Founder and CEO of Streamcal, a venture seeking to redefine the way schedules and calendars are shared across the web. Before Streamcal, Tony worked on several concepts including a card-linked loyalty program for SMEs, and a gesture-based hardware technology company. Tony received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, where he focused on Entrepreneurial Management. He also holds an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he explored his passion for economic development through entrepreneurship. Tony has had a broad range of professional experiences across finance (Lehman Brothers), consulting services (Booz Allen and McKinsey & Co), and design (IDEO). Originally from Colombia, Tony currently lives in Boston with his wife.
What advice do you have for entrepreneurs thinking about applying to incubators or accelerators?
These are great opportunities, but your business must happen with or without them. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement and the aspiration of being accepted to a "prestigious program" -- after all, it's validation that you're on to something! But if things don't work out, the show must go on. Your goal is to create a company, so don't lose sight of the bigger picture.
