Rosetta Thurman is a nationally-recognized author, speaker and coach who has helped thousands of people build meaningful careers, enhance their leadership skills and live with greater purpose. Originally from the Midwest, Rosetta grew up in the public housing projects near Cleveland, Ohio where she was raised by a single teenage mom. Her family was so poor that every year, a woman from a local nonprofit would take her shopping for school clothes because her mother could not afford to. Her childhood fueled a passion for social change and a lifelong desire to help others, leading Rosetta to work in the nonprofit sector for eight years as a fundraising professional and leadership development practitioner. In 2008, Rosetta launched Thurman Consulting, a firm that provided speaking, training and consulting services to nonprofits and associations. After five years of working as a nonprofit speaker, trainer and consultant, Rosetta realized that helping organizations improve their leadership was great, but her true purpose was really to help individuals improve their lives. That purpose is what inspired her to create Happy Black Woman in 2013, a training company that empowers women to create their ideal lives through personal development and entrepreneurship. Rosetta is the author of 31 Days to Reset Your Life: A Practical Guide to Personal Transformation and co-author of How to Become a Nonprofit Rockstar, 50 Ways to Accelerate Your Career. She holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from Trinity Washington University and a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Virginia Commonwealth University. Rosetta has also taught leadership and marketing courses as an Adjunct Professor at Trinity Washington University. Rosetta has been featured in numerous media outlets such as JET Magazine, BBC London, The Washington Post, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Forbes Woman.
