Lexa Hillyer Co-Founder, Paper Lantern Lit

Lexa is an editor, a published poet, and co-founder of Paper Lantern Lit, a literary incubator that comes up with story concepts and develops the careers of up-and-coming writers. She received her BA in English from Vassar and her MFA in Poetry from Stonecoast at the University of Southern Maine. As an editor at HarperCollins Children’s Books, she was a member of the HarperTeen fanlit contest panel, a judge for the Ursula Nordstrom Prize for fiction, and launched several original new series. She was also an editor at Razorbill, an imprint of Penguin, where she worked with various New York Times bestselling authors. As a writer, she was the recipient of Tusculum Review’s Inaugural Poetry Prize as well as the Brick & Mortar Review First Prize in Poetry. She was named one of the 50 Best New Poets of 2012 by Matthew Dickman, and her first book of poems, Acquainted with the Cold, is published by Bona Fide Books. She lives in Carroll Gardens with her husband, and spends her spare time wine-tasting, dodging the mafia, and starving her orange tree.
