Q&A with Debbie Weil:

It often seems that I spend all day checking and answering email. What are the most effective techniques for getting myself out of email hell?

Systems and procedures are great if you can stick to them. But, if you are, er, addicted to the incoming rush of email, you have to take stronger steps. Limit your time on the computer. Leave your mobile phone on your desk. Step outside your office. Go for a walk. Take nothing but a pen and paper in case ideas strike. Then focus like mad when you allow yourself 30 minutes to answer your email.
